Entertainment and training
Personalized and Professional
In parallel with the changed regulations, we will increase the service to the dogs as much as we can. Therefore, all dogs will receive training and entertainment as suits each individual. The training/entertainment primarily involves mental stimulation, the dog will be given all kinds of tasks to solve, these can be all kinds of exercises such as obedience exercises, fun tricks or really anything that makes the dog think and spend energy as much as possible. When the dog starts exercising, he will either go with a trainer to exercise in a training facility or a special dog treadmill. Staff assess when a dog is tired. We never overdo his strength or endurance and make sure that we achieve our goals, which are that the dog experiences positive emotions, is relaxed and content. The goal is always for the dog to experience positive emotions of cooperation and trust.

The amount of exercise is always in consultation with the facility's veterinarian.
All dogs get exercise and mental stimulation during their stay. Training plan is decided with the head trainer and the veterinarian of Mósel. Our goal is that all animals experience positive emotion towards their handlers, their room and overall their experience during their stay.

Required but Comfortable stay at Mosel
The name Mosel
"There was no other name in mind when Jóhanna began the journey of building a luxury building for animals that need to be isolated before they are allowed to come to Iceland."
The first project involved search and rescue dogs, and Morris, Jóhanna's colleague of twelve years, was at the forefront. He passed away in the summer of 2019 – gone but never forgotten. Morris was always called "Mó", and hence the name Mósel was born.
We fully understand the concerns that breeders and owners have about leaving their animals in isolation. That's why we design, build, and operate our facilities to the highest quality standards – every single day, for your animals.
The building complies with animal welfare laws, which require spacious enclosures. We went a step further – offering spacious rooms that are as home-like as possible, so that the animals feel at home during their stay.
The rooms
Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV with a subscription to dog TV or cat TV, and soothing classical music that studies have shown to have a positive effect on animals. There is also a closed-circuit camera system in each room, connected to our home, so we can monitor while we are not in the house itself.
All dogs have access to a spacious, private outdoor enclosure, up to 20 m² for the largest dogs. Some dogs even have a view of Hekla itself, others overlook our horses and sheep that live right next door!
Staff
All staff undergo extensive training in veterinary medicine and dog training before starting to work with our animals. We also offer on-site training, and new staff receive mentoring from experienced staff.
We have strict requirements for our staff – our goal is to treat every animal as if it were our own and make their stay as pleasant as possible at all times.
